Angelina Jolie has secured another major courtroom victory in her long running legal battle against ex husband Brad Pitt over the French winery Château Miraval. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge recently ruled that Pitt cannot force Jolie to hand over a set of private emails connected to the 2021 sale of her stake in the luxury winery. The decision marks a significant setback for Pitt, whose legal team argued the communications were essential to the ongoing dispute surrounding ownership and business agreements tied to the famous estate once shared by Hollywood’s most powerful former couple.

The judge sided with Jolie’s argument that the requested emails are protected under attorney client privilege, determining Pitt had not provided sufficient justification to override those protections. According to reports, Pitt originally demanded access to 126 documents before eventually narrowing the request to just 22 communications. Jolie’s legal team celebrated the ruling publicly, accusing Pitt of attempting to control not only the winery dispute but also her private legal communications. Although the motion was denied without prejudice, meaning Pitt could revisit the issue later, the ruling still represented an important legal win for Jolie.

The Château Miraval conflict has become one of the most bitter chapters in the former couple’s years long separation. Pitt first filed the lawsuit in 2022 after Jolie sold her ownership stake in the French winery to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group, reportedly without his approval. Pitt claimed the sale violated an earlier agreement between the pair that neither would sell their shares unless the other consented. Jolie denied that such a binding agreement existed and later countersued, accusing Pitt of waging what her lawyers described as a “vindictive war” against her.

What makes the battle especially emotional is the symbolic role Château Miraval once played in their relationship. The sprawling estate in southern France was not only a winery but also the site of their private wedding ceremony in 2014. Over time, the property evolved into both a luxury wine business and an important creative space, with Miraval Studios hosting major artists including Pink Floyd, AC/DC and Travis Scott. Following their separation in 2016, however, the estate transformed from a romantic symbol into one of the central battlegrounds in Hollywood’s most complicated celebrity divorce saga.

The legal dispute has also repeatedly reopened painful allegations tied to the breakdown of their marriage. During previous filings connected to the Miraval case, Jolie’s legal team argued Pitt attempted to pressure her into signing extensive nondisclosure agreements designed to prevent her from discussing alleged abuse connected to a 2016 private jet incident involving their family. Pitt has consistently denied abusive behavior, though the accusations became a major turning point in both the divorce and the custody disputes surrounding their six children. Despite finalizing their divorce in late 2024, tensions between the two stars remain deeply unresolved.

For now, Jolie’s latest courtroom success strengthens her position in one of Hollywood’s most expensive and emotionally charged legal battles. While Pitt still maintains partial control of the winery business and may continue pursuing further legal action, the recent ruling signals that courts are not fully aligning with his broader attempts to access Jolie’s communications and business strategy. Nearly a decade after their separation first stunned Hollywood, the conflict between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt continues unfolding through lawsuits, countersuits and public scrutiny, proving their post marriage battle remains far from over.
