LOS ANGELES: Unrivaled is bringing its fast, three-on-three version of professional women’s basketball to Los Angeles for the first time. The league will open its third season at Intuit Dome in Inglewood on Friday, January 8, 2027, with a doubleheader beginning at 7 p.m. local time. One ticket covers both games, giving local fans a compact introduction to a league built around star players and a television-friendly format.

The Los Angeles date is part of a wider season-three road expansion. Unrivaled began in Miami, where its purpose-built venue created an intimate setting and a controlled production environment. The 2027 plan takes selected game nights to eight cities, including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Minneapolis, Houston and San Francisco. Los Angeles is not a token exhibition stop. It is opening night, which places the city at the center of the league’s next growth test.

The matchups have not yet been announced. Unrivaled says the four participating clubs will be identified after season-three club assignments are finalized. That uncertainty is worth keeping in mind before buying for a specific player. The confirmed product is the full evening: two games, four clubs and a 7 p.m. start at Intuit Dome. The league’s own tour page lists the games at 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Eastern, which translates to 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Los Angeles.

Tickets are already on sale through the league and Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster lists an eight-ticket limit per person and per credit card, and it warns that resale prices can exceed face value. Fans comparing options should begin with the official event page, look at the final price after fees and confirm whether a listing is standard admission or resale. The event can continue selling tickets until game day, but availability and prices may change as the club assignments become public.

Entry at Intuit Dome is managed through the arena’s app, and Ticketmaster says instructions will be sent no later than two weeks before the event. That detail matters for groups. The person who buys the tickets should install the app early, complete any required verification and transfer seats before everyone reaches the plaza. A screenshot is not a reliable substitute for a mobile ticket that may refresh. The smoothest arrival starts before the drive to Inglewood.

The building is designed around basketball, with steep seating, a large center-hung scoreboard and extensive fan technology. Yet the Unrivaled setup will not be identical to a Clippers game. The league plays on a shorter court with three players per team, a format that opens space and rewards quick decisions. The game also uses an untimed fourth quarter that ends when one team reaches a target score, so the finish cannot be drained by repeated clock management.

For Los Angeles, the event arrives at a strong moment for women’s sports. The city already has a deep WNBA audience, and the local appetite reaches beyond one team or season. Unrivaled offers a winter complement rather than a replacement. Its schedule gives elite players another domestic platform, while the one-night stop lets Southern California fans see a collection of stars without waiting for a conventional road swing.

The league has said the opening weekend will air across TNT, truTV and HBO Max. That national window raises the stakes for the building and the crowd. Los Angeles is being asked to look like a market that can fill a major arena for a new basketball product in January. A strong turnout would not guarantee a permanent team or a longer residency, but it would give the league useful evidence when it plans future touring dates.

Fans traveling from outside Inglewood should check the arena’s transportation and bag policies close to the date. Intuit Dome sits beside SoFi Stadium and the broader Hollywood Park development, an area that can become congested when events overlap. Build time for parking, app entry and security. The second game is likely to push the night later than a normal single contest, so arranging the return trip matters as much as arriving before tipoff.

The most appealing part of the Los Angeles debut is also the simplest: it offers two meaningful games instead of a ceremonial showcase. The clubs will be competing at the start of a real season, and the outcome will count. Once the matchups are announced, individual loyalties will sharpen. Until then, the January 8 ticket is a bet on the league itself and on Los Angeles showing that a new women’s basketball event can command one of the city’s biggest stages.
