Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin, J Balvin and More to Electrify the Stage at the 2025 MTV VMAs

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards promise to deliver a star-studded evening of performances and honors this September The awards will broadcast live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7, across MTV, CBS, and Paramount+ hosted once again by the iconic LL Cool J.


Early announcements have already set the stage ablaze with a lineup that reflects the event’s global reach. Sabrina Carpenter returns to the VMAs following her breakout performance in 2024 She will be joined by pop superstar Ricky Martin emerging artists Sombr and Alex Warren and global hitmakers J Balvin alongside DJ Snake The mix promises a blend of high-energy pop, Latin flair, and viral appeal.


J Balvin’s set will feature his collaborators Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez, and will include a live debut of his new track “Noventa,” promising one of the night’s most anticipated musical reveals. Meanwhile, two iconic careers will be celebrated Busta Rhymes will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award while Ricky Martin will be honored with the first-ever Latin Icon Award.


On the nominations front Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nods, followed closely by Bruno Mars (11) Kendrick Lamar (10), with ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter each earning eight nominations Ariana Grande and The Weeknd round out the top contenders, highlighting the VMAs’ broad genre representation.


Adding to the ceremony’s freshness are two new fan-voted categories: Best Country and Best Pop Artist These additions reflect MTV’s commitment to diversity in genre and audience engagement Voting is now open online through September 5, including extended fan voting for selective categories during the show itself.


With its blend of established stars, emerging voices, and honors to industry legends, this year’s show is shaping up to be more than a red carpet it’s a convergence of legacy and innovation, where art meets celebration in front of a global audience.
