NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett and his partner Teare Candelier have issued a joint statement after police were called to their Los Angeles-area home in the early hours of April 27 during a domestic dispute.

According to TMZ, Candelier contacted authorities around 2 a.m., reporting an argument with Garnett. The dispute, while emotionally charged, did not turn physical, law enforcement sources confirmed. The only reported physical contact occurred when Garnett was leaving the residence and moved Candelier aside to exit through the doorway. By the time police arrived, Garnett had already left the property.

Candelier declined medical assistance when offered.

In a statement shared Sunday, the couple acknowledged the situation and expressed remorse:

“We deeply regret that a personal disagreement escalated and inappropriately involved authorities. It was never our intention to involve others in a moment that should have remained private.

Like most couples, we have disagreements, but our commitment to each other remains strong, and we move forward with renewed respect, understanding, and love.”

Kevin Garnett, 48, is revered as one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history. Drafted in 1995 straight out of high school by the Minnesota Timberwolves, he enjoyed a storied 21-season career, including a championship win with the Boston Celtics in 2008. A 15-time NBA All-Star, 12-time All-Defensive Team member, and one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players, Garnett was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

Since retiring in 2016, Garnett has successfully transitioned into media and entertainment. He appeared in the acclaimed film “Uncut Gems” and co-hosts the popular “KG Certified” podcast with fellow NBA great Paul Pierce.

While no charges were filed, the incident underscores how even public figures experience challenges in their personal lives. The couple’s candid acknowledgment and commitment to reconciliation provide a reminder of the importance of addressing conflict with care and communication.
