A man has been charged with stalking and vandalism after allegedly crashing his car into the front gate of Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air home following nearly two years of obsessive harassment.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48, from New Albany, Mississippi, has been accused of sending Aniston repeated unwanted messages through social media, voicemails, and email since March 2023.
The situation escalated on Monday, when Carwyle allegedly drove through the gates of Aniston’s midcentury-modern mansion, causing “substantial damage.” He was detained by Aniston’s security team in the driveway and arrested by police at the scene.
Carwyle now faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
In a statement, District Attorney Nathan Hochman stressed the seriousness of stalking cases: “Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities.”
A longtime acquaintance of Carwyle’s, Marty Merritt, spoke out in a Facebook video, saying the accused had become unstable after the pandemic, claiming he was “God” and “the Antichrist,” and believed he was meant to marry Aniston.
Jennifer Aniston has not yet publicly commented on the incident.
